The Austin 7 Centenary Event 2022
#1
Preparations for a wonderful, week-long celebration marking the Centenary of the Austin 7 are well under way and the event website is now live.

The A7CA has assembled an enthusiastic band of willing and very able people (many are forum 'Friends') who will be working very hard over the next two years to put on this hugely exciting  'must not miss' event.

The venue is the Fire Services College at Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire. It is absolutely ideal for our purpose, with extensive grounds, superb accommodation, and excellent catering and leisure facilities.

For now, we would like you to note the dates - Tuesday 19th to Sunday 24th July 2022 - and to start planning to join what could well become the largest ever gathering of A7s.

We believe it is very probable that there could 1,000+ on display.

A programme of activities aimed at all generations will be happening every day so treat the event as a summer holiday for all the family.

The website is a work in progress and information will be added as time goes on but you can sign up now to receive update emails in future.

Please note that we are not taking bookings at this stage.

We are sending out publicity materials to A7 clubs but if anyone would like to help publicise the event through their own A7 contacts, drop me an email: press@a7centenary.com

Nick,

Looks like it will be a splendid event.

What a pity we cannot take dogs. (You offered to take our Labrador home when you met him at Beaulieu last year!)

Any chance that this rule will change?

Regards

Alan

And I still would!

Sadly, no, the rule is unlikely to change. At the college they train dogs for a number of highly specialised roles and they cannot allow other dogs generally on the site.

We are not yet sure about guide dogs.

If its a no dog event I am unlikely to be attending with the Type 65.
As you can see from my Avatar he likes to feel important.

Fantastic job Nick, well done to you and Chris.

I love the countdown clock so that people know how long they have got to work on their cars and any other logistical issues they will need to solve - two years and counting!

Spread the word everyone, this is going to be one fantastic week of fun, not to be missed!

This will be a not-to-miss event; I well remember the effort put into the first big celebration, the 50th in 1972, but with today's connected world the 100th promises to be something else. As many owners now have several Sevens, how about people combining to share the cost of a multi-car transporter? Unfortunately, I bet the snag will be the Seven's track being too narrow to fit the decks.

Will there be any other events around the country? I don't fancy a 400 mile round trip in my seven.

You could always break the journey each way with a stop-over halfway; perhaps an opportunity to organise a North Yorkshire group outing with the Centenary event as its highlight?

The Scottish Club are planning to stop around Settle for a few days on the way down and then on the way back up again - making a real trip of it.

Well done to the organisers so far.

It should be a fantastic week, and I agree with the sentiments above. An event not to be missed.

I agree many owners have more than one car,  and it would be good to see owners with more than one car there.

Perhaps a thread could be opened on the forum, to help owners get together renting transporters etc.

It's good  to see more distant clubs, making there plans early.

And hopefully we will see plenty of overseas.

I have my own plans for the week, and have already been spending plenty of time on the stall. All for one event.

Tony.
