The sounds of sevens
#1
Music
Today the internet offered up a collection of sound effects from the BBC library
In the sixteen thousand recordings there are ten labeled Austin Seven!

Be careful, with 16,000 other sounds to browse this is a rabbit hole of epic proportions.

Before school age I lived near a town centre. There was reasonable traffic but slow. From the very earliest I could identify the tinkle of a Seven crankhandle. Curiously many now strive to block this signature noise.
The characteristic crank rumble is as much felt as heard.

Excellent. I have also enjoyed:

Fast Typing: Close office acoustic, two manual typewriters.

Quiet village - birds and light traffic.

Three whooshes with ripping fabric - 1967 (7B, reprocessed)

Istanbul, child streetseller, with voices, footsteps, and distant music.

Stream atmosphere in ravine - a light breeze through trees, distant glacier rumble (Chile)

Hospital Lift, doors open, journey, stops at six floors (lift doors close, lift doors jammed open).

Chopper being sharpened. (Don't ask).

Could some kind soul please help me out of this rabbit hole?

Warning: This is NOT an Austin Seven.

However it is my favourite sound of all time. Hope you like it too.

I found it very interesting that you could have a number playing at once...
