I have just skimmed a few thou off the top of my best of three blocks that I have, standard bore, good valve seats etc.
Unfortunately the cast iron dust collected on the bore between 2 and 3 cylinders and highlighted what appears to be a crack. The cracks are on adjacent sides of each bore.
Does this mean it’s scrap or is it ok to use, or can it be sleeved and used?

Thanks for your reply, that was what I thought, both bores 2 & 3 have the crack so looks like two sleeves.

Hi Roger,
Before having the Boring done. Having the Block Chemically Cleaned with a emphasis on the inside of the water jacket
This will help remove a lot of corrosion Still going on in side the Block will also highlight possible other cracks'
Before the Expense of a Liners and a rebore
Just a thought

Colin,
I do have two others but not so good as this one, best have them cleaned too.
What other areas are likely to crack?

HI Roger,
On the top block between Studs and water jacket holes also because of corrosion
If you find a good block which can be fixed after cleaning can be spray inside with a rust Killer
Good Luck
