I'm certain that the original type of spark plugs specified for the 2-bearing engine with low compression head have been unavailable for some considerable time and that old stocks are by now used up. What make/model number of plug is recommended as the most suitable equivalent today? Many thanks.

I use Champion D16 plugs - they seem to work well.

Yes D16 or I think The Green Spark Plug Co. lists equivalents.
