Items for the Archive
#1
As many of you will be aware, the Archive of the Austin 7 Clubs' Association has been more pro-active in acquiring items for the collection in the past couple of years or so. The profile of the Archive has been raised as a result of the digitisation project and now people around the world are able to access the collection on line. We have a member of the Project Team specifically tasked with monitoring Ebay and other areas to spot suitable items. Recently, the Association has missed out on a couple of important items - a remarkable Military brochure in Argentina and then a very early 'Motor for the Millions' poster in Germany. In the case of the poster, we made a what we decided was a healthy last minute bid of some €400, but were outbid and the Military brochure was listed at a breathtaking £1400 (or equivalent), a number of us were discussing what we could make as a realistic offer when it was sold.

The Association has recently had two remarkable donations specifically to fund the Archive, £600 from the Midshires group of the Pre War A7 Club and an extraordinarily generous £2600 donation from the VAR of New Zealand. This gives us scope to make purchases of more significant items, though we obviously must not be profligate and make sure every penny is thoughtfully spent.

The point of this post is to ask if any of you happen to see anything 'special' that you think the Archive might be interested in acquiring, could you perhaps drop a note to archivist@a7ca.org and/or archiveproject@a7ca.org pointing it out. Similarly, if you have anything in your own collection that you think might be of interest that you might be prepared to loan for digitising, or better yet, you might consider a donation, you can be safe in the thought that it can be preserved for posterity and shared amongst fellow owners around the world..

thank you..
