Mice damage

Anyone got any good ideas of how to stop mice damage now that nights are drawing in and our cars are layed up for considerable periods of time. My problem is with field rather than house mice...live in country.

Belt and braces approach for me. First Rat poison sachets scattered about backed up with an ultrasonic rodent repellent.

We get the occasional field mouse in the loft space of our house (which is the same age as the Seven !). These days the "red" and "blue" poison available to the public seems pretty ineffectual. Ultrasonics made no noticeable difference. Pre-baited plastic traps are very effective, they seem to be dosed with something irresistible (to mice) that looks like marmite. Best to fix the traps to a small square of wood, so that they don't get dragged away....

Here In Canada we found out that what works well is using bars of a brand of Soap called "IRISH SPRING". Apparently the mice cannot stand the scent of this soap. I just cut the bars up into sizable chunks and put them in places you don't want the mice to be. Not had any mice in the garage to my knowledge since.

These may be famous last words but I find with my garage always reeking of petrol, oil & grease etc. and general old car smells, these are the perfect deterrents.

Find a friend who owns a cat and ask them to save the contents of its litter box (minus the lumpy bits); Scatter the wet litter on the floor under the car. Works for me    -- have never seen a mouse or rat in years. The downside is a little smell.

Demon tweeks sell a mouse repellent spray. Also ive used a peppermint repellent after they took a liking to our modern cars…not sure if it works but we often get comments about the aroma.
