Identifying RTC windscreen uprights/supports

Competing in the VSCC AutoSolo at Donington yesterday, my son Tom was caught out by the new 'grippy' tarmac and rolled our RTC. Fortunately other than some tarmac rash he is fine, but it was a spectacular 360 deg roll, which now requires a little more than T-Cut to fix it. The windscreen frame and supports and the radiator mascot were the points of contact and prevented his head from coming into contact with the ground.
I will attach some photos of the windscreen supports/uprights, which are going to have to be replaced. The question, does anyone recognise their origins and can suggest a source of supply please?

Talk to John Williams at Chesterton Coachworks 01869 331939
When my 12-50 Alvis was rolled many years ago he made a new screen for me that utilised most of the old screen. Worth a try.

Hi Jack,

You may remember we've been in contact before when like me you were a member of the Morris Register. My 1936 Morris 8 Tourer spent most of its early life in Oxford and you knew of its last owner in Oxford a Martin J. Young. I can confirm what others have said, the supports / uprights are from 1935 to 1938 Morris 8 Series 1 & 2 Two-Seater and Four-Seater Tourers - not the easiest parts to find though the Wing Nuts, Cone Washers, D Washers etc are the same as MG TC's and are available new from NTG Motor Services Ltd. Suggest you drop David Molyneux an email: dmmmem@tiscali.co.uk he supplies used Morris 8 parts mainly mechanical and body parts for Saloons rather than Tourers, but you never know.

I would suggest that your son is extremely lucky to have escaped unscathed. I rolled my car 10 years ago I broke a lot of bones and suffered a head injury! Anyway the windscreen, I also believe it could be repaired, the area with gravel rash can be built up with silver solder or another low temperature braze then reshaped, polished and plated. Broken studs can be replaced, bends in the frame can be straightened.

Must say I was thinking the same Ian, while personally my metal-working skills aren't up to the task I feel it would be worth taking to a specialist repairer - the damage doesn't seem that great from the photos - and a replacement is likely to cost a packet (maybe the repair would too, I don't know...)

A lucky scrape indeed!

The uprights seems very similar to the windscreen from the body that came on our Ulster.

Still not sure what they are from but have been modified so probably no use to you.

Thank you all for the suggestions, they are indeed Morris 8 Tourer irons. They are beyond repair, one having snapped the other bent beyond recovery.
