Good afternoon all.
Does a definitive list exist of the trafficators fitted to Austin 7's from 1934? I have original Lucas data but it is far from clear and contradictory on the serial number of some types.
The SF80 will fit the ARR ruby, is apparently lighter and more energetic, but is not listed as original
hope this infomation is helpful, cheers Russell
Many thanks Russell, this is just what I was hoping for. My Lucas data references these numbers but presumably the rapid change of models was too quick for Lucas publications to keep pace.
The SF80 seems to have become the standard indicator from the late1930's and was fitted to a whole host of cars. My 1934 Pearl is fitted with incorrect trafficators which just fit the aperture, the original ones are very scarce and I saw a pair change hands at the Beaulieu auto-jumble for £500, they were destined for a Riley for which they were original equipment.
Regards from Staffordshire, twinned with Norfolk - the pot hole counties.
Thanks, Russell - the SF80 trafficators are the only ones I've seen available, and they fit well - it is good that they are considered 'energetic' - mine are only just energetic enough!

Does the part no define the voltage? Is it easily possible to deduce the voltage from the actual units? The later comment about early Ruby units bought for a Riley is interesting; the Riley is 12volt.

All those part numbers I listed are 6 volt.
The SF80 was made in 6 and 12 volt but as its not austin 7, I have no part number. Robert if the earth on your SF80 is good, it's possible you have a 12v SF80 which will account for its impotence .
It is possible to have SF34 and SF40 in 12 volt but they will have a different post script and different part number.
I have no 12 v information on SE26 or SF28. cheers Russell

I recently found a 1939 Lucas CAV list 400b which has an interchange list- looks confusing and not sure if it is of much use.
