Grease nipple plea
#1
I am in need of just one grease nipple in my continuing refurbishment of the LMW Special. Alas, no form other will do - there is a space constraint.

If the internet is to be believed, these do not appear to be freely available. Should any kind person find one when rummaging I would be very grateful to offered the same.

I hope you will be able to click on the thumbnail to reveal the crucial dimensions.

Thanks in advance,

Stuart

You should have said when we were talking yesterday, Stuart. Have one in my 'these'll come in handy one day' drawer. Whilst the dimensions are the same, the nipple bit is a touch longer than the one in your photo but worth a try.

Still 102 Doddington Road? I'll put it in the post to you tomorrow.

Thank you very much, Steve, that saves a lot of trouble. Yes, address unchanged.

You're absolutely right, I should have mentioned it yesterday. That would probably be this multi tasking that I hear so much about? As it is, at least neither of my synapses have burned out.

All the best,

Stuart

Are these the type used on Girling stub axles? If so, I have some too.

Yes, that's where the one on its way to Stuart came from I think. Following the lead of the late, great Ian Sly I don't use grease nipples on Girling Stub Axles any more prefering flip top oilers.

Steve

I like that idea, and shall steal it.
However, if I put “90 degree 5/16 BSF flip top oilers” on my Christmas list, I might be sleeping in the shed

The grease nipples also kept me busy and I would like to raise my questions here as well.
Before the winter break I greased every part that is mentioned in the chart below:

The grease nipple at L5 came off... so the nipple remained in the grease gun, the part with the thread remained in the axle.
The only thing that I could buy in Germany was a grease nipple form John Deere.

Is this the correct size or is L5 also the one suggested by Ruairidh Dunford. Last weekend Rolf Königer brought his full range of spare nipples to our annual club meeting but.... not L5...

Thanks for your answers in advance

1/4 x28 tpi is a UNF thread
1/4 BSF is 26 tpi
You may force it to stay in the hole but it won't be nice. Time to order the part from over here

Personally I much prefer this design of grease nipple
