Electrical cutout switch
#1
Looking at the wiring of ruby today which has had a -ve earth conversion.
This is the cutout with battery and body and chassis earth going to top terminal and starter to bottom terminal.

Surely the other earth wires should be on the same terminal as the starter motor otherwise the isolator switch isn't isolating at all!

Looking at the Earth cable thats domestic earth and whilst it works its prone to breaking with the vibration on a vehicle, I would change it for proper multi strand cable for a more reliable result.
Could you do a little drawing showing what you have?

As I understand all Rubys ( I have one ) were negative earth anyway.
Would it not be best to isolate live + to the s/motor ?

Quite!
The electrics on this ruby are really oddly put together.

I believe Rubys change to positive earth part way through their production span.
