The RP has been quite busy over the last fortnight or so. A fortnight ago last Sunday, I drove down to visit friends at Llanfair Caereinion, a round trip of 60 miles, been up to the horses a couple of times, been to Llanuwchllyn at the other end of the lake, again a couple of times to get animal supplies and yesterday drove to Shrewsbury to have dinner at a rather nice Indian restaurant with an old friend of mine.
Yesterday was the only time that the car blotted its copybook. I got as far as Montford Bridge, when the car suddenly wouldn't idle. Being late, I pressed on to Shrewsbury, as it wasn't far. The engine was too hot to fiddle with, so my friend and I went for our meal. On returning later , I cleaned the jets and, as I was putting the float bowl back on, noticed that the car was loose on the manifold. A quick tighten and normal service was resumed. Drove the 50 miles home without further incident.

Today I have been doing more wrestling with ruby electrics. The fuel guage today. It works but isn't calibrated right.

Changed the oil on the RP. It took exactly two litres of oil from empty to the full mark on the stick (I think another post is about oil levels in the sump). I just use Supermarket 20W-50 because I change it every 1000 miles.
I haven't topped the oil up since the last change (1000 miles) and it was about a pint short of full. I reckon that's not bad oil consumption - as most of you know my car isn't mollycoddled.
