What have you done today with your Austin Seven
A couple of weeks ago I reported a misfire, as John Cornforth suggested in a pm it turned out to be the condenser - new unit together with new rotor arm and points, and it's back to normal  Big Grin

Highlights:   into the Elan valley the long way round

4 miles of up, a lot of it in second gear,

and the B 4358 Beulah to Newbridge, a particularly fine bit of B road.

Lowlight: fuel problems meaning I rigged a temporary gravity feed, using a Flymo tank - which meant stopping every 6 miles to fill it up.

Why is there never a gateway when you really need one?    Smile

Hi Simon

We used to live about half way along the 4358 between Beulah and Newbridge on what is known locally as the Troedrhiwdalar pitch.  A road once described by a friend as both vertically and horizontally challenging!

It’s a great bit of country and I’m privileged to live there!

Cheers

I note that the cantankerous welsh hermit has to pay 197 per litre. In our lucky country down under we pay about half that and people still whinge. I must admit that I do like to have a purpose when I take my girl for a run.

Everyone we met was remarkably friendly and the Llanwrtyd alternative games have been added to the bucket list. Smile

Another call for a young lady to take her and boyfriend to her school leaving prom and dinner.
May I add neither of the youngsters in the photo drove it. The chauffeur was my son who is out of shot.
Would you believe it "Her who must be obeyed" refers to my Ruby as the toy.

So, potentially two evenings of Austin 7ing awaits me tomorrow and thursday, so got the Chummy out for some tlc after tea. Gave it a wash and a grease. Unfortunatley found the propellor shaft boot U/S. Arse. And on the verge of fully opening. I guess its been on the way out since I've had the car and was probably the reason for the terrible vibration at 60mph. Thursdays night is a proper 'vintage' night so I'd like to take the chummy. Thankfully I have 2 boots in stock, and after about an hour and a half the job is done. I would have been quicker but the car still had tab washers on the fixings (now deleted). The U/S boot is an original style leather job which I have kept for posterity. Now full of fuel and ready to go to Pride & Joy Vehicle Meet at High Ercall tomorrow.

Hi All

My special will do over sixty with plenty in reserve. However the driver doesn’t do over fifty and has precious little in reserve!

Cheers

A recent speedometer accuracy check, using my grand-daughter's phone's satnav app reveals that :-

1. The RP does a true 48 mph flat out, at which speed it all sounds very busy
2. The speedometer is 3mph pessimistic at 30 and 5 mph at 48.
