What have you done today with your Austin Seven
Splendid things wing tanks. I have one myself to attach to a Chummy when the machine is ever finished. Rubys have a useful luggage rack to carry petrol cans. Very useful to top up other Sevens in paddocks or car parks before setting off to make vigorous ascents. .

If hit up the rear I'm not too sure how happy I would be with that arrangement Steve...

I have to agree there Nick, it's a bit too "stiletto mounted on horn-push" speed control for my taste!

And your feelings about scuttle tanks above your knees? Let alone a moron in an SUV with personalised number plates chopping into the side of the wing tank. I reckon that the whole exercise of unprotected cars with next to no brakes requires a total suspension of fear. Avanti, Sevens will survive!

Interesting choice of words there. Stud. Avanti didn't survive as none of the US really cared about advanced safety features used at the time, and I guess the styling didn't fit either. I presume it bombed...

Surely the rear tank on a long chassis seven is just as vulnerable in a rear ender? Let's get things in proportion guys. OK it's a risk but everything in life is a risk. Is it manageable, of course. If it worries you, there are always fuel tanks that can be retro fitted with "explosafe" mesh inside which reduces the risk even further.  Before you jump off the deep end, do some research and find out how many A7s have been involved in a rear end collision in the last 10 years that resulted in a split fuel tank. Evidence please, not just anecdotes.

The British SAS haven't found a problem with carrying spare fuel, and they expect to get shot at....

Now, moving swiftly on...

And, at least on the RP saloons, one has the safety beam that supports the rear number plate and lights.
