I have a friend who needs a replacement taper bore bearing for the front stub axle on a 6” braked A7.
Anyone know who sells them? All ideas gratefully received!
Dave.

I believe David at A7 Components stock them.

Hi David
I am intrigued that such a now odd item should be available. Are they MOS, modified bearings, or was the type continued to recent times? if only such individual parts remained aavilable for "moderns".

We have all 'narrow outer ring' and tapered bore bearings machined from standard bearings by a local engineering shop who use ceramic? tooling to machine 60 Rockwell C bearing material.
Not sure many old stock Austin specials from 80 years ago are still around although we did find a few of the NOS later clutch thrust bearings a few years back- last of these sold a week ago.

David Cochrane, thanks, I missed the bearing on my mobile. Specsavers may be able to assist me.
I have told my friend who is ordering them now.
Cheers,
Dave.

Bob - they are modified bearings. I was motivated to have them made partly because my Chummy will probably need some soon...
