I don't think it is Duncan, but I will be out and about. Thought about going to Wetherby and Tadcaster in the morning. Got something else at 2.30 in Harrogate, but maybe Ripon at 4.30?

North Yorkshire County Council is being abolished in a year's time, so anything could happen.

What's certain to happen is a new type of dual-council with twice as members (with doubled expenses) and a CEO's salary topping £350,000. He or she will have two assistants on £200,000 and they, in turn, four sub-assistants on £100,000. A nuclear-free zone will be established to deflect Russian ICBMs, and - of course - every resident will collect a tax-free, £25,000 per-annum salary. Ever known a set of bureaucrats do themselves out of a job or close down unnecessary departments?

That’s almost exactly what has already happened in Oxford...one of the council members discussing the continuing campaign against cars in the city quoted “the new multi story car park at the Westgate is a magnet for motorists” ...and we are paying these people’s salaries...sorry for the rant I try desperately to avoid politics on this forum and promise not to do it again, but I thought it was relevant!

Looking at the weather forecast it doesn't look like I'll be going to vote in the RP. It's going to rain all day Saturday as well as Sunday so the C15 will be doing the honours. (Actually, I could walk there but I can't be arsed)

For anyone that's interested in the French Presidential election, polling stations close in France at 7pm, (6pm UK time) and the results will probably be announced by 8pm.
