add 'steering bracket' to your essential spares list!

Satchels now appear to have a historic precedent. Damn.

And probably all done without an air cleaner. The fact that rutted country tracks are usually wider than Sevens may have assisted or hindered. Pitted against most ultra low moderns on the same roads the Seven would likely still win.
Oz is  noted for unexpected cars winning rallies. In the early 50s the new VW won several Redex round Oz rallies over unmade tracks and ensured huge success of the cars down under. I gather the cars were extensively rebuilt each night but this was not known at the time.
I wonder if he crack tested the crank before departing....With that proviso and tight axle nuts I would be fully confident.
The tyres worthwhile. We used to often picnic on the local sand beach. The RP sunk in more than then moderns .
