hi dickie,

i take it you meen the dust plates.

many of these pates were removed over the years, or not put back when a new exhaust was fitted. its only more recent years these have been looked to be replaced. because it completes originality.

yes the plate needs removing or another fitting plate made.

i wouldnt consider this as a fitting issue though, "its a dust plate" a fitting issue to me is cutting lumps out of the chassis and bodys to make something fit.

i must admit, if i didnt already have so many projects to complete. having the idea of putting a blown engine in a ruby really ticks by boxes. and id be looking for a nice donor car.

however.

i have an ulster rep i need to finish, as its already sold.
the black rod yates trophy needs finishing to sell.
i have an RK saloon i need to finish to sell
the blown ulster will need attension when it comes back.
i have the 1923 whaiting for its new body so i can get on with restoring it.
the boulogne stalled with a broken rear axle.

and thats without the work i need to do to tracys chummy and the van to get them to the 100th.

so someone else needs to put this engine into a ruby.

Well that sold well Tony

Will we be seeing it in a Ruby any time soon, or is it destined for something more exotic?

far more surprising than that, but im gonna have to let the new owner surprise the world with that.

i just happy after a day of lack luster austin 7 people, the engine has gone to someone with enthusiasmn.

An anorak writes; looking for something else entirely in Canning Brown before breakfast, I came upon Bill Scriven entering the 1935 RSAC Trial in a supercharged Ruby, DOB306. Was this a works car, as much used to frighten the horses in the Warwickshire lanes by Bert Hadley?
