Ah, well, that would explain it. The Ebay listing isn't clear and makes no mention of it being for 2 batteries. However, the delivery change for a single battery makes me wince a little. I'll probably still go to the MG Owners Club as I say, I am fortunate that they are just down the road from me...
cheers...

I looked up Tayna today and was surprised at the 26 quid delivery charge since "last time". Makes an Exide 80aH 60 plus 26 = too much.
Found Batteries and Solar in Plymouth who had a 10% voucher if you sign up to their newsletter.
So £71 delivered standard 3-5 days and purchased at 2pm, but I already have a DHL notification for something coming tomorrow....
So if you don't live near Wales or Cambridge.... all hope not lost!
Fortunately, after I bought it I solved the battery prob via the dynamo problem, so will have to get on quick with starting to put the Gould together!!

I spoke to Tayna not so long ago because I thought the delivery charge must be a mistake, but apparently it's so high because the batteries have had a tendency to leak in transit so now all of that type have to be sent on a pallet to help avoid that happening.

Can't help wondering why they don't ship the battery and acid separately as other vendors do - as recently speculated in another thread it may be that the rules have changed.

this one is apparently coming out wet... so are they winging it? I'll let you know how DHL get on. Previous ones seemed fine in a box with "this way up" on, and lots of appropriate bungs.

Plenty of ordinary 063 12v batteries are advertised with free delivery, on Amazon, on ebay, from Tayna and others. Most are about £50 with free delivery. Tayna are £42 plus £8 delivery. So it seems no problem with delivery.

Just be careful with some of these and read the small print. A lot are supplied dry and then you have to fill them with acid. I recently replaced the battery on my RP, with a 6v 80Ah battery that was stored dry at the battery shop. They then filled it and charged it overnight before collection the next day.
