Deviating slightly, Austin Golden Jubilee medal but looks like it was produced to follow the service award  award design.

Hi I suppose a dealers badge with the Austin logo is is the badge to have on the dashboard.  Do you know the reference number of the publications for 1929 and 1939, the ones for 1936 is 1388 and 1937 is 1388A so from what I have seen it is unclear if a list was issued each year.

Thanks Douglas

George Box  were suppliers of funeral hearses to the undertaker trade and at one time supplied 40 businesses. One can assume they used Austin chassis as they were listed as Austin dealers from at least 1929 and still operating 10 years later at premises in Bradford Road Batley Yorkshire. Their corporate head office was indeed at Dewsbury but another firm E.A.Golby had the Austin franchise there.

I believe you are referring to the owners handbook David.
We are discussing the booklets titled 'Austin Dealers in the United Kingdom" which is an entirely different series.. regards  Russell

Hi Russell

Thanks for the info it looks like Austin just used the next number for the next publication I guess the letter suffix is when there where minor changes, the Association has a 1932 copy which they have offered to lend to me it will be interesting to see how much they differ from the ones I have already seen.

I have found a who’s who for the 1929 Yorkshire Motor Show in a news paper it is interesting what terminology they use to promote themselves, the ones below are list for Austin some are replicated under other makes.

Leeds
Central Garage Ltd Main Wholesale and Retail Agents
Appleyard of Leeds Ltd Official Austin Agents
Geo. A. Campbell Sales and Service Agent
Huddersfield
Rippon Bros Every make of car supplied
Bradford
Hayley Motor Co Authorised Austin Agent
Dewsbury
E. A. Golby “1930 Models in stock” in 1929 add
Batley
George Box Ltd Main Austin Agents

Do you have anything for the other side of the Pennines? I have a TJ car registered December 1932. I think that is the Preston area? After that no history until 1970s.

I have asked the local office but they have nothing.
