Steering wheel
#1
Hi I have a 29 chummy with a steering wheel that has the plastic covering coming off. Does anybody have any ideas on what I can do? I thought I would take it out and find a place who can remake that plastic instead of making a cover.

You may find it cheaper and less hassle to find a better example in the UK and swap it over, perhaps, if you cannot find someone close by who can remould it. They aren't uncommon to find in better condition on ebay or through a wanted ad on here.

The pre Jewel series shallow dish wheels are getting hard to find now Jon. Even harder in good condition. Particularly as the better ones still usually have defects.

The earlier deep dish ones are like rocking horse manure to find, and like unicorn rocking horse manure in usable condition.

Do Messrs Dunford (both on here) not offer a recovering service?.

I had one of a Foden steam lorry recovered in Celluloid not that long ago, I think it was a Mr Day in Wroughton that did it, I'd have to look it up.

But there are certainly a number of specialists over here who offer recovering.

I had a wheel for a '31 car recovered by Ruairidh Dunford last year. First class job. Recommended.

great. I'd be interested to know what sort of ballpark they cost to do.

Why not ask Ruairidh? He's not exactly invisible and he doesn't bite!
