Hi all, just a question I have just had our renewal through for our Ruby, and the price given by ERF is £145.57. Is this the going price to insure our rubies? it is a jump up from last year. Thanks. S&P.

Hi Stuart,
Phone Emma Airy on: 07956 232758 I would expect your premium to be nearer £60 and suspect a mistake has been made. She is the boss and very helpful.

hi stuart.
my prices were rather high last year with RH. i didnt get the same responce on here as yourself. as a supplier of austin 7 parts, we cant overcharge, our customers shop around. my insurance is aproaching for this year, i will also shop around. as noted last year, discounts for austin 7 clubs members. dont seem to be noticed by RH anymore. tony

I've just renewed with RH. They charged a 7% increase over last year and I paid £72 for the RP and £124 for the 65. We have two moderns insured with them as well so paying them over £800. Exactly where the increase came from I am unsure. The lady I spoke to explained the increase was due to an increase in legal cover costs, although this was only a few quid, so I think she was struggling to avoid mentioning profit.
Regrettably RH seem no different to all the other insurers out there in that each year you really have to shop around. The only exception to this is the insurance on our narrow boat, which has been steady around £109 for the last twelve years. Three cheers for Newton Crum! Having said all that RH are good to deal with and the recovery service they provide is hassle free and efficient. Seems a shame we can't do a better deal as the PWA7 Club. Edit to add: figures above exclude IPT, which I think is 12%

Tony, speak to Emma.
Colin, the scheme is (and has always been) organised through the A7CA not the PWA7C. We are lucky enough to have David Mawby as a liaison officer to oversee the scheme, he can be contacted on: insurance@a7ca.org Not every problem can be resolved by RH but it is well worth asking, in my experience.

Tony In the past couple of years I've got quotes from RH for comparison but they've been noticeably more expensive that my broker, Peter S Taylor/Bishop Calway. In my experience people would be wise to not automatically assume that just because RH have been associated with the A7CA for years that they provide the best value. Charles

I was disappointed by RH this year. I'd sold the car but the renewal came in anyway at a considerable increase. I asked them to quote for the BSA (which is a special and so a bit unusual) but they didn't call back in time and I went to A Plan.
