A tootle to the post office the long way round - the view from Longstone Edge is always wonderful. The fuel pump needs the points cleaning - but after that, it started first pull of the handle.

What's that bright light in the sky? An alien spaceship perhaps? Don't worry, it will be gone soon.

The day has come. We can go out without any reason, can drive on a whim, and don't need to stay 'local' (whatever that means).

seven ripon 29 March 2021.jpg (Size: 17.67 KB / Downloads: 318) Good to be out in the seven today, about 40 miles around North Yorkshire. Now draining the oil.... 500 miles since engine re-build.

Not my Austin but Andrew Ruby called in to the workshop today. Pictured in the sun...as we're allowed out to play it's rude not to!

Couldn't make the most of the nice spring weather because I've got the steering column out of the the RP at the moment, waiting for parts. I decided to do something different and started clearing some of the land behind the house. By chance I came across this, which had apparently been lying in the undergrowth for some time:
I am told that it's a headlamp shell for a 2CV and will fit any model with round headlamps. It does need a little attention, as the pointy bit is rusted through but it is retrievable. Unfortunately the red plastic widget is missing but everything else is there, including the cable grommet, the spring loaded top catch and the wing fastening. If there's anyone on here that could use it, let me know, otherwise it's going on "leboncoin". Here's what the pointy end looks like, so you're in no doubt as to its condition: Going to see if I can find the rest of the car tomorrow!

Oh dear Reckers... are you trying to subvert another thread into an amis des 2CVs theme?
I hid in the garage for 25 minutes whilst simultaneously cooking supper and welded a nut to a tap that was snapped off in a crank case... at the 5th attempt (2 were several weeks ago) the weld held... 20210329_235122.jpg (Size: 152.81 KB / Downloads: 187) That's probably it for the next 6 months. |
