A lot of those vehicles appear to have been scavenged rather than war action damaged. I guess they were just abandoned and the locals had a field day.

After the war the french state auctions sold what was left of belligerent vehicles. My father bought this Zündapp KS600 incomplete and non running. I played on it, static, when young. I wanted to restore it during all my adult life to find at least the time to do it when retired recently.

I understood that rather than being purely scavenged they were at least initially disabled to prevent reuse with wheels removed both to prevent use and to get to inner tubes used as flotation aids to get to the boats.
Sobering thoughts and pictures whatever the realities of their stories.
Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think!

In the first picture is that a Ruby trying to swim.
John Mason.
Would you believe it "Her who must be obeyed" refers to my Ruby as the toy.

What a tragic waste of human life.
Sadly still happening in some parts of the world .

The first two are quite well known photos and seem to show APD Military Tourers. Are they, perhaps, of the same car but taken at different times with the second being after the tide going in and out has had its effect?
