Moderns tend to forget that in the days of bench seats and befroe seat belts, baby seats and rules such scenes were not particularly exaggerated.When 9 to 11 stone was a not uncommon adult weight many nominal 4 strs could encase 6 adults plus children on laps.

One of my relatives told me of how they used to go on their summer holidays as a family ,2 adults and 7 kids in the car,It wasn't a 7 however.
