A Quiet Day in Norfolk

.jpg   Reepham.jpg (Size: 143.25 KB / Downloads: 297)
Reepham Market Place, sometime in the Fifties, perhaps? In the foreground NG7070.

This car is on the Chassis Register - albeit as an out-of-date entry - as an AJ tourer, original registration date 4 May 1934 with chassis 194454, which fits the reg date. It was red and belonged to a member of PWA7C.

Fast-forward to 2020 and the  car is recorded on DVLA, last taxed June 2020. It is still a red Austin, but is now dated 1930.

Does anyone know this vehicle?

This picture was passed to me by a Norfolk Club member, who had seen the image on a Facebook collection of old Norfolk photos and wondered if the car was still in the area.

Is the change of date significant? Has the chassis been rebodied or the reg number reused? Are the DVLA guilty of a typo?

I’m mightyly impressed with the method employedof casually abandoning your car rather than going to all the trouble of parking it.

The newest models in the photo appear to be the A35 and the Mk2 Consul(?), both introduced in 1956.

They must have liked their Fords in Reepham - at least eight visible in this view.
