Part needed 1929 Austin 7.

I am looking for the rod and fittings that fits behind the gear stick to stop reverse being selected by mistake.
It's a 1929 3 speed box.
Can anyone help?

These bits are like hens teeth. You may find a complete gear stick but these are also very rare. 
A better option is to get some thin steel rod (original was 3/32" I believe so ~ 2.5mm in millimetric) and make the pieces up. The foot can be filed out from brass plate and a coil spring sourced to sit behind it. The top of the rod needs to be forged into a mushroom head by heating it and the bottom needs an appropriate thread to match the foot.

The bits that are not so easy to reproduce are the steel cover for the foot, riveted to the bottom of the stick and the thumb catch, which is an 18G solid nickel stamping.

I've reproduced a few of these to re-commission some of the bits and pieces of gearstick in my collection of bits.

As Parazine says they are like hens teeth.

Here are some pics of one I refurbished and keep as a spare in case my home made remote starts to play up.

I used a brass rod and simply bent the end over at the thumb catch.  Note that it all needs to be assembled on the gate before cold riveting.

The rod is marginally small on this one but works OK. Makes a useable top for my spare gearbox......
