American Bantam body restoration

American Austin (I wrote Bantam originally, that's the generic name that always pops into my mind...) with an unusual back to the body. Restoration pictures from Facebook; there are so many I'll have to post them eight at a time in a series of replies. I think I've managed to include them all but, despite my best efforts, they are not in the correct sequence.

Am I alone in thinking that this is not quite as impressive as some comments might suggest. This is hot rod building american style, take a steel saloon, chop off the top build a steel box section frame to hold the remains together and mig weld the back of the roof onto the tail. Loads of TV shows doing this in the US and they usually have a V8 inserted, there is a certain amount of skill involved I agree, but in no way can be considered restoration, far too much of the structure is vandalised and lost in the process. To my eye it is an uncomfortable marriage of parts and looks very wrong at the back.

I'm inclined to agree with you, Ian, although I suspect the box frame may just be temporary to hold it all together until it's finished!

I am with Ian on this one , A lot of BOG will be needed to fair this one up.
Its one thing to have all the gear but another to use it.
