If you missed these on facebook...

Martyn Griffiths wrote on facebook: "I scanned these photos some years ago from an album that was lent to me from a lady called Valerie Carr that I understand has now passed away. She was a lovely lady that suffered a number of disabilities which she bore with amazing grace. The Chummy was owned by her father who was quite a lad with the ladies in his young days. He also travelled far and wide in his Chummy which was fitted at some time with a mascot that resembled a tubby policeman !! As for the older lady that is shown with the car in one of the photos, you wouldn’t mess with her, if she said it was Monday I would certainly agree with her. Can anyone date the Chummy to me it looks an early one with cowl headlights."

Great pictures and a very early car, 1923 is my suggestion.

Ian,
EK  - County Borough Council of Wigan.

EK 3000 was issued in April 1924.

Looks like our Lancashire lady was " a bit of a gal. "

N/s running board seems to have had more use than the o/s.

I featured the first picture as Picture of the Month in February 2018; the original post was from Robin Boyce. All the others are new to me, what a splendid collection... and yes, I agree, it looks like a 1923 car (EK is a Wigan registration that ran from 1903 to 1934, so hard to date accurately from that). There's no choke cable through the radiator shell, so presumably the car has an electric starter.

I well remember the Picture of the Month, Feb. 2018. It went on to form a "caption competition" which pruduced one of the funniest answers I ever saw! I should warn you that I am an elderly, white, chauvinistic, hetrosexual male, so those of you of a delicate P.C. nature had better not look it up! Cliff.

For those elderly, white, chauvinistic, hetrosexual males confused by the search button, the winner - by several hundred miles - was: "Nobody could unscrew the filler cap, but then Veronica remembered what she'd seen that 'memorable' night at the Floor-Show in a seedy nightclub in Bangkok....."

Is anyone in contact with Martyn Griffiths? I can see the potential here for a Grey Mag article ...  Smile
