Now if you'd asked for a creme brûlée burner you wouldn't have had a problem. Cook shows seem to be so popular but does anybody who watches them have time to actually cook?

Today Christine and I fitted the new sheet of vinyl on the roof. Quite a job but it looks good. Just a dab of black paint needed on the screws now.

The opening sunroof went more than fifty years ago, replaced with hardboard and vinyl with aluminium strips screwed on the edges. If now has new hardboard, new vinyl, the 1950s aluminum strips screwed back on with new screws in the old holes!

Yesterday was the first time I started the engine from cold with only the starting handle.

I've been isolating myself, today, by taking my Ulster out, on my own, to put some more miles on the new engine. Around 100 miles now and I'm up to a burst or two to 5500 in second up hill - and it's still pulling well!! Boris says we should only go on journeys that are essential. He might not agree but today's journey was essential to me. If the weather's reasonable, tomorrow's might be as well.

Confined to barracks down here for the next 5 weeks. One trip a day to go shopping so might use the RP. Curfew in force after 6pm so LEDs would be an extravagance...

I must say, Steve, it had occurred to me that the roads might be quiet and if an Ulster doesn't cause some social distancing I can't think what will.

Desperate times call for desperate measures... the 'new' exhaust system for my ORT left me with one final issue. Having negotiated problems of the down pipe fouling the tinware in the engine bay, the silencer up against the brake cross shaft and the bent tail pipe, there was no way I could fit a clamp on the last joint.  I think this is what I love about owning a 7

Took the Ruby out for twenty five miles or so, stopping now and again for slight dizzy adjustments which either flatten the rolling Welsh hills or significantly  improve performance. Very little traffic, though a Farina body A40 did hoot a greeting.

Looking under the bonnet confirmed that seeking oil tightness is not an impossible dream, it doesn't drip, let alone leak. If there is one thing we can do on the forum it is to credit the world of Sevens and the help everyone can give. Malcolm Lyon, Andy Fox and Richard Houlgate told me what to do in Leominster Priory. Cherished suppliers, Jamie, David Cochrane, Tony Betts and Dave Dye supplied the bits. The Great Chieftain of the Seven race stood on the top of the Campsies and with his conch shell sent a message to Wales. "Oi, take it apart, and do it again, correctly this time!" Many thanks to all.

Interesting times, lots of time and money improving elex and lights for the Measham, from which some of us were banned. Steering box removal and sorting to improve the ability to quickly wiggle round cones, which won't happen. Won't be any rallying, so no vigorous debate with navvies this summer. At least no oil will be dropped in supermarket car parks when attempting to load the luggage rack with bog rolls. No reports of panic Autoglym buying, so perhaps a wash might be a good idea.
