If your A7 is too big - try this one

Your Austin Seven too large? Try this one - just a 5-foot wheelbase. How small can one go? A little more here: http://theoldmotor.com/?p=89577 and here: https://www.american-automobiles.com/Martin-Dart.html

It would have never stood a chance against the likes of Ford and Chevrolet, anymore than the American Austin did.
Too small and revolutionary for the US and I doubt it would have sold here against the 7.
I wonder whether it could have sold in parts of Europe ?

..a sort of U.S.A. Trabant. Small cars never caught on in the USA until the Beetle - and if you've ever had one, even they can hardly be described as small.

Has anyone ever shortened a Seven chassis below 6' 3"? How would that do for trialling in theory?

Indeed. In my Mk. 1 Golf, if I reached out with my left arm, I could touch the passenger door. You can't even do that in today's Polo.

30 odd years ago I built myself a 10 x 5 car trailer which was big enough to cope with most cars from a 7 up to middle sized cars.It could carry a model A ford (Just), MGB ,escort etc. As time went on I found it wasn't wide enough to take newer cars, sort of late 80's on.
In the uk recently I hired a Toyota Aygo, what would be classed as a small car now I suppose. It reminded me of my Mini days, and so much easier to park than my VW Passat .

OK so a Smart car is shorter than a Seven but you can't do this in a Smart car.

Ah be careful the rear track on a LWB car is 1090mm. The car isn't so light there is a jack under the front axle.
