File has to be under 4096kb size before being uploaded.

Then upload.

Click "insert into post"

   

Inserts a thumbnail that you then click on to see the original image.

Interesting that it rotates the thumbnail but not the main one when you click on it.

How did you "attach" your thumbnail? I only managed to "insert" a large photo.

My camera produces file sizes around 8MB (though I have some that are larger), and though it allowed me to add one as my avatar, when trying to add one for a post it seems to complete uploading, then comes up with a notice at the top of the page.
"Please correct the following errors before continuing:
The file you attached is too large. The maximum size for that type of file is 4096 kilobytes."
