What have you done today with your Austin Seven
The problem has been dealing with clueless Scotia Vehicle Inspection who were advising the forgetful RH/ERS.

I don’t know this firm, but a quick google says they are useless.
In any event claims assessors only advise insurers, the insurers don’t have to take their advice.
What the assessor says is not set in stone.

So In Henry’s case it appears that RH were not at fault and the second case no Austin Seven was involved at all.
Incidentally the A7CA is not the A7OC although the second is in fact a member of the first.

I didn't say that RH were not at fault.
I would suggest that they very much are at fault for claiming to be providing 'Specialist Vehicle Insurance' whilst employing/relying on a company with no specialist vehicle knowledge.
I certainly won't be using them again.

If I employ an idiot someone to do my work and don't first establish his competence,  I think the any reflection of his incompetence on me is very fair. In the case of RH, if they are a specialist classic car insurer, they need to be sure they employ people who have knowledge of classic and vintage cars... now my brother's experience wasn't Chinese whispers. I tried to help him to find an engineer to argue his case. That said, it was not my personal experience.  I have always been perfectly happy with RH premiums... but I have never had to make a claim. 

Given that this is on a public forum and is being discussed with RH, it makes sense to add a little more information. The 2CV was T-boned so there was damage to both shell and chassis. Under DVLA rules you can reshell a vehicle so long as you retain 80٪ of the original vehicle. Although in no way economic to repair,  the bent chassis could have been replaced with new (readily  available for 2CV) and the damaged body repaired. He argued that they didn't need to render it fit only for parts as he had a long history with the car and didn't want to loose it...

May I ask what happened Henry and what is the extent of the damage? Based on the pics above it doesn't look like a write-off.

Third party drove into my car on a roundabout.
Various bent bits..... 
So far. 
Front axle, front spring, front wheel, ns. steering arm, front cross member, longitudinal member, rear cross member, ns. front mudguard and damaged headlight.

Has anyone thought of posting copies of this thread to RH when they receive their renewal query? Most reputable companies prefer to avoid adverse publicity...
