How important are the radiator wind deflector's on a Mk 2 Ruby, my ruby does not have them, did it leave the factory with them fitted, are they worth fitting.
Thanks for all replies

Thanks Derek
It seems they stopped fitting the deflectors before the Mk2 Ruby was made as they didn't make much difference to the running temperature.

I had a Mk II Ruby for many years which had its original deflectors. I noticed on the Berlin trip that I had more fuel vaporisation problems than those who did not have them fitted, presumably because all my intake air had been through the radiator. I have assumed that without deflectors the carburettor sucks cooler air. It was not significant in my experience until the arrival on 'modern' fuel.
