Since my eyesight has let me down and I have had to stop driving my Austin does not get used to much. Today my son came over and took me out in it we didn't go that far about 20 miles around Nottinghamshire and she didn't miss a beat. Wonderful.

Would you believe it "Her who must be obeyed" refers to my Ruby as the toy.

A belated follow up to David Stepney's travel report. The recent weekend of the Humber Inter-Register Rally I did around 420 miles during which the Ruby consumed, more explicitly leaked, about one and three quarter pints of oil. I have installed an improvised near side rear shock absorber gaiter to prevent it becoming oil soaked and useless. The weekend's fuel consumption once again confirmed how much it can change. Starting and stopping on the event, including some steep hills and getting as fast as I dared as the minutes ticked by, around 36/37 mpg. Gently humming back home down a quiet A49 with no headwind, 45 mpg.

Having finished fitting my new rear springs I went for a spin. A great improvement. On the way back to the works the road had been closed and I was able to run along the grass verge between the road and front garden walls to get back into the works yard. Handy to have a narrow little car!

As it is now Spring, I went for a drive in the sunshine. I used an old camera that does not have image stabilisation and had to put some tape over the mic but it worked out ok.
