The little car looks and sounds fantastic.
Well done Bill for building it and to Ruairidh for helping you snag it!

Hi Ruairidh

Many, many thanks for all your expert help today,
Plus uploading the videos of the Cup having its first
outings round the village and up and down our lane.

Hope you can have a more relaxing second day of your holiday!

Plenty of stuff to do now to get ready for Guildtown!

Perhaps you can track the green Cup from Beith down?

Kind regards

Looking good, Bill.  See you at Guildtown.   My Brooklands fired up instantly after its winter hibernation and has been moved from the side garage into the main garage.  I need to sort the choke cable out so I can start it without putting my arm down the back of the exhaust manifold!  Also need to rejig the throttle pedal which is only opening halfway, it might be a bit scary with full power on tap!

Can you handle all that power, Malcolm? Cool Big Grin .  Barbara and I look forward to seeing you at Guildtown.  You're very welcome to stop off at Crail in either direction if you wish.

assembled all the bits to start on tonneau construction.

I’ve bought 4 meters of old stock Silver Cross Pram hooding
and 3/16” plastic piping core .

I’ve also bought some new feet for the vintage Necchi sewing machine

Two piping feet and one zipper foot.

The templates are made from very stable nylon sailcloth
which I had kicking about the garage.

Working out the details before I start cutting cloth.

At last!! BF 7864 is now off SORN and taxed and insured.

Busy with the tonneau fabrication, then back to tuning, electrics
and carpets.

Little progress last week due to family commitments.
Ruairidh and some old friends from his Bristol days dropped in yesterday
though( see What did you do? thread for more photos)

Will get back on the Cup case by the weekend hopefully.

Bought a trailer for £100 I-have a feeling it may need a bit of work!!

Went over to Neil’s to help him tighten up his flywheel using Ruaridh’s clever
gadget and then wriggle his engine( with a blind spline) back onto the gearbox.
Both pleased and happy pensioners!

Spent the morning after refitting my radiator and checking all the nuts and bolts at the front of the car.
Discovered I needed a new large radius arm nut which came next day from Jamie at the A7 Workshop.
Plus finally tabbed over the washers on the shackles!

Remade one of the bonnet fastener loops and replaced the detachable floor plate on the drivers side,
Plus refitted the petrol tank( which seems to have developed a minuscule petrol leak near the tap.

Will need to get some slosh sealant soon.

Bonnet still to be refitted as I’ve lost the front bonnet pin support.

Ordered another from Vintage Car Parts.

Also fitted the door check fixings but still to make the leather straps. I’ve got some carpet material so will need to make some templates first.

Some progress on tonneau making, both sides cut out and ready for initial sewing.
But first I need to learn how to thread up the big sewing machine! and fill some spools!

Can’t find a manual anywhere in the Internet for this particular Necchi model 802.

There’s a sewing machine repair guy in the next town so will pay him a visit on Monday
with photos of the machine. It’s a two man lift so I can’t take to him!

Hope to be basically road worthy by the end of this week.( must check brake light)
I know the indicators and sidelights are fine.
Not a lot of time to road test before Guildtown the following weekend!!

Intrigued by Ruairidh’s mention of a Gordon England Exhibition Tent!!

A good chance perhaps to see some unique GE photos I hope ?
Plus get some ideas about hoods and sidescreens.

Regards

Bill G
