I've built an engine in the special and one in the RK, both started pretty much straight away.  If I can do that.... you with the skill you've shown building the car, most certainly can!!

Anyway I went to Halfords and bought a 5 litre petrol
Can and filled it up on the way home , so the die is cast for Monday!

I will report on Monday’s efforts ASAP.

Despite DVLA’s efforts to stop this 1925 Austin chassis
carrying its correct registration mark of HU 3636
I have decided to sport a reproduction 1925 tax disc
to spite those who Issue BF (Bloody Fools from Dorsetshire) marks.

Before you try to start the engine for the first time, Bill, double check that the ignition timing is about right.  It is easy to have the distributor 180 degrees out, and plug leads can sometimes be in the wrong order!  Don't ask me how I know these things!
Another tip for all those using the Ricardo head and the nice vintage looking plug leads with the brass ends secured to the top of the plug by a knurled nut.
When I was looking at the engine of my saloon the other day, I noticed that the plug lead to number one pot was tracking to earth by way of a hefty spark from the brass plug lead end to the cylinder head, which is relatively close due to the raised section to the water outlet.
The solution is to put a piece of black heat shrink about 1" long over the brass plug lead ends, which improves the appearance of the leads and also seals the gap around the lead where it enters the brass ferule.  I haven't road tested the saloon since but hopefully there will be some improvement.

For the practical advice... regarding timing and plug leads!

I got the T shirts for those errors on my Morris 8 and MG VA engine
rebuilds!!

Fitted the petrol tank, carburettor , choke control and starting handle
this morning.

Once it does start and drive I’ll be doing a fair bit of adjusting,
brakes , lights, carb tuning etc. Plus I need to sort out a tonneau.

I’ve now got a drive belt for the industrial strength sewing
Machine but I need a piping foot and a zip to get from EBay,
Plus order some fabric to do the tonneau and hood bags,
One for on the car and one for storing the frame in the boot.

Planning to have the hood cover detachable from the frame,
still to work that one out and if I’m up to covering the sidescreen frames Ive made.

If I’ve time before Guildtown I might start up my nickel plating
System  to do my door catches and bits for Neil and Ruairidh.
