All Alloy Cup progress
Hi Jon

I’ll try and get some Alphi 11. Did you use it neat or dilute it? 1:1?

I think the front has a happy face ?

Hopefully so will I when it finally starts, changes gear and stops and
Steers as it should!

Trial fit.... I’ve two lengths of fan spindle
And the alloy one that’s on just now is TOO long!
The cast iron one though is a good deal shorter so will
Fit that one. Not much clearance between the fan and
the radiator core with its cross piece as well.

But it should just fit ....

Looking good though!

Alphi - haven't used it yet, Bill, so you will have to wait until others come along... can't imagine its 1:1 though, at that price.

Fitted the new exhaust, plus installed the lamps, number plate, badges, windscreen glass
Oil line and finalised the electric wiring.

About to fit the tank, carburettor , refurbished fan assembly etc.

Should be ready to fire it up next week when the weather improves.

You must be over the moon with the plating on the rad cowle as you can see your reflection in it.

Hi John

I started out with a brass Nippy shell but it did not
suit the original rad core so I used an old steel 3 part bonnet
Chummy shell which was OK for dents and odd holes but had
Quite a bit of surface corrosion.

The platers said that they had it in a copper bath over a weekend.
I think there’s now twice as much copper on it
than steel , plus the polishing and  nickel plating is excellent.

I have my own home plating set up as well and am about to
to plate the door handles and catches. Previously I did all the instrument rims etc

About to go out to the garage to take off the radiator assembly
to let me fit the replacement fan and spindle, and also refit the rear exhaust
bracket under sill and rear wing.

It’s a miserably wet day here and the garage is dry and reasonably warm

Another few hours in the garage today.....

Fitted the radiator cowl Rubber rest with stainless staples
One of which caused an Elastoplast incident, but
The cowl is now looking very neat and just waiting for
the bonnet next week.

Also wired in the dipping headlamps which are working but
will need focussed one darker night.

Pretty well there with the wiring as I also connected up the
dash lamp and the voltmeter.

Just one set of final checks and I can sign off the wiring,
allowing the tank to be refitted and the carb and linkages
finalised.

I’ve bought all the fluids needed and Neil is coming on Monday
hopefully we’ll get it running!!!!

Meanwhile it’s Lighting up Time here in the Borders!
