Regards Hi there,
I’m sorry I didn’t photograph the bits
Of the starter switch for my Bacon slicer
When I had it apart a couple of weeks ago.
I think you’re missing quite a few bits.
I can see one solid copper wedge within the housing.
You need two of those as they are the input and output feeds.
There’s a spindle attached in the back of the case. to the outer button and it carries
A double ring of “copper petals” which make contact with the solid copper
Wedges. There’s also a push off spring which keeps the contacts apart and various
bits of insulation.
My Lucas? Switch was a sealed unit and I had to drill out the 3 rivets
which held the rear case to the front cover.
I just used the original mounting screws to hold the unit together when I reassembled it.
Care had to be taken with the assembly as the push rod exits the case and could
touch the live contacts at the rear.
The mini starter solenoid with the rubber top looks an easier route till you find a complete original.
By the way my one was filthy dirty inside and badly needed overhauled.

thanks - both wedges are there and two brass what-could-be-petals... but it sounds like I'm a spindle down!

Hi JonE,
I think my switch is different from yours, I knew there were two types.
My”petals” were cupped , just like a shallow daffodil trumpet and sprung
To clasp the “wedges”
You need a button to press and the rod and spring?

Tony - can you work out if I'm missing anything or give me any pointers as to how it assembles?

Jon,
Sorry- I have only ever dismantled Lucas switches from bacon slicer starters.
Have seen pictures of the CAV switches but not the internals.
Cheers, Tony.
