All Alloy Cup progress

The car and chassis plates are on the footwell panel on the Dash car
I think. I’m not sure what year the Dash car is.

Older factory car no. plates I think are round? My chassis is 1925
so I may fit a round facsimile plate on that footwell location.
My oblong chassis plate is now mounted on the under bonnet bulkhead.

I had some nice old grey carpet cut offs , but not enough to 
cover the transmission tunnel. But I had a lot of spare matching blue leather
so have glued that on the tunnel along with a gaiter using spray adhesive.

Looking forward to parking a flask of tea and mug on the flat top tunnel.

The grey Wilton carpet is roughly cut but will be finally trimmed and the local
Carpet shop has said they can bind the edging. I’ll fix them in place with carpet
Studs.

Now need to get some small rubber Austin heel mats.

Having a break from the build for a few days ...

It's beginning to look very comfortable in the cockpit! isn't a leather covered transmission tunnel the height of sybaritic luxury?

If Aston’s and Ferrari’s can have some luxury touches
Why not Austin Sevens? Performance will be a lot less
Speedy of course, but 50 mph in a Cup will seem faster than 90
In an DB7? And demand more concentration and probably driving
skills?

Swallows were the height of luxury as regards 7’s I suppose?

All the leather used in this Cup, seats, interior trim , was left over from the TR3A build.
It was bought on EBay very cheaply.. 3 x full size cow hides ( aircraft quality , Swiss made!!)

All Bought for£100 from NI , inc pp ,
a knock off from the Ryan Air seat factory?!
It looks exactly the right shade of navy.

I’ve enough to make a hood bag as well.

Ps I have a travelling cocktail cabinet as well so looking
Forward to some sybaritic adventures :-).  ..
It’s red Rexine so will have to live in the tail compartment.

Take no notice, Bill. I'm just jealous! My RP is a 'fixed head' saloon and would have come with rexine trim. It has been reupholstered in the past, but (fortunately) in vinyl leathercloth, so it's still the poverty model.

i appreciate what you mean regarding high speed Sevening. Many years ago, I had a Seven special that would do an indicated 70mph given enough straight and flat road. How the lads who raced Sevens at Brooklands coped at 80 to 90 mph is beyond me!

The Car to do list
Make bulkhead plate
Get carpets edged
Sort out all rubber trims

Fix petrol tap, and fuel filter
Wire umbilical to control panel
Attach steering drag link 
Install windscreen glass(wiper motor holes?) make jig
Overhaul vacuum wiper
Test petrol tank and refit ( slosh if need be?)
Make and fit oil pipe
Make and fit exhaust down pipe 
Refit flitches, cow horns and wing supports
Rewire remaining cabling
Fit pulleys and fan belt
Check starter and dynamo and fit
Time engine with old distributor 
Refit radiator etc and bonnet bits
Nickel plate door catches etc, 
Refit doors
Fix and wire headlamps
Get more grease nipples
Attach all wings, piping, side lamps and flasher
Fill all fluids and attend to all greasing points
Finish instruments and switches
Check hood frame, modify if necessary
Order hood material Make tonneau

Go to Guildtown!!

Back to work on the Cup after a weeks holiday.

I picked up this heavy duty sewing machine today to help make the hood bag,
Sidescreens and tonneau, perhaps even the hood!

Strong enough for sewing multiple layers of leather
and reputedly even thin plywood!

Needs some TLC but I think it will do the business.

I’ll let you know once I’m up to speed.

Main thing is not to sew your finger tips!!!

It needs a new drive belt, but easily got.
Plus the garage will need reorganised to get it in.

“You’re not bringing that rusty thing in the house”

The motor on the thing probably has more power than the A7
but the clutch is much smoother!
