Yet another ulster

Thought I'd let everyone know some of what we are doing.

10 years ago I bought a replica Ulster body from a customer. He had owned it for 20 + year. And the owner before him bought it new some 12 year plus. So we can work it out to be well over 40 years old. And it had never been fitted to a car.

The body is one of the first made by Ray pettit.

I've had a lot of nice parts ive collected up over the years, including an original steering wheel.

And last year I managed to buy a rolling chassis and engine, mainly built by TIM MYALL, at the old pigsty works. Plus the gearbox being built up by don rawson.

As I don't have enough spare time, we sent it all up to friends in SCOTLAND last year to be built up.

We collected the car at the weekend.

In the usual stormy, rain, snow, sleet. You name it weather.

And here is the car back home.

Ready for us to finish our work on it.

It looks very nice. I’m just doing a few cosmetic alterations to my Ulster....including fitting the patent plate which was missing as the oil pressure gauge was there. Can I ask if the plate is riveted to the dashboard and if so...where does one get the rivets? I’ve searched high and low!

Erich, the wings were a set I had saved from back in the day when I stocked them from bas janson in Holland.

Jay, The pattent plates were never riveted, they were nut and bolt

To make the new car feel at home, she has some good company.

Hi david,

I'm looking forward to having this one on the road.

I don't know if it's because it has one of mark Ropers ALUMINIUM flywheels fitted, but it runs very very well. Has a sweet sound, and very responsive on the throttle.

She is what we call fully loaded.
