I know people who have done the Coast to Coast here, St Abbs to St Bees via Alston. Many cases of "L.P.A. required" reported!
Horses for courses etc.

That reminds me, Motor Sport Magazine tested a rear-engined Skoda and wrote it up as haing impressive the road holding - except, not so impressed when they discovered the reason - a paving slab under the "boot" carpet.

I am reminded that the Fiat 850 Coupes (rear engine) my Mother had between 1966 to 1979 were always driven with a case of dog food (Pal I think) under the bonnet.

I can walk to St Abbs from my house in about 20 mins.
Half way there is our Beach Hut at Coldingham Bay.
It’s in need of some TLC on the roof.
