All Alloy Cup progress
After many hours of measuring and making about 30 armoured cables, soldering the end
fittings , and heat shrinking the ends to stop the alloy windings unwinding, 
I finally get to fit them and their junction boxes into
the engine compartment.

The pair of 6 way Lucas junction boxes on the inside of the flitch plates
provide power to the dipping headlamps, sidelamps and front flashers,
Plus earth wires as I’m using 6v LED’s all round

When fully wired up I’ll test each circuit out before dropping
The engine and gearbox in. Next nice job is to fit most of the instruments.
There’s a multi core umbilical from the metal bulkhead back to the dash control panel, plus another umbilical( trailer cable) back to the rear lamp clusters.

Any suggestions for getting speedometers overhauled?

Nice, neat tidy wiring makes a huge difference on a car. It looks very clean. We had a DRO sensor die on a machine at work once so they replaced it and threw away the old one. I nabbed it just to get the armoured metal sleeve off the cable from it.

Wings came back from the welder looking much better and 
He even did most of the dressing of the welds so just a little work with a 
palm sander should sort it out, before finishing with the Scotchbrite and
Nyalic. They are all pre-drilled so should just bolt on easily when the lacquering is finished.

Thinking I may need some stone protection under the front wings? Anyone with alloy wings care to comment?

Bill, that was my immediate thought when you said you were making the wings in alloy. I reckon you need a coat ofrubberised paint at least to protect from flying stones.

£40 buys enough to do 4 wings and some
Parts of the cockpit.

I’ll probably go for this type of material

My son used that sound deadening material on his E30. Worked well, but weighed a ton.

The full pack ( 30 sheets) weighs 3kg if I used it all. I think the 4 wings
Together weigh less than 6kg! At 2mm thick it’s thicker
than the wings which I think are 1.6mm!

If I put it on with a heat gun onto clean bare aluminium
it’s going to stick on well.

My car is already ultra light and a couple of extra kilos won’t
Make any difference I suspect? I could do with losing a few kg myself
and that might make some marginally more space in the cockpit for a passenger?

speedograph richfield wouldn't do any chroming for me. So bear that in mind. Otherwise I gather their work is excellent
