I'm afraid I'm not anti-footer/signature myself.
I don't remember seeing one and thinking it was over the top. Generally they are just used to sign off the post, as many do by typing their name at the end (Some people have even put their name in the footer to save typing it every time). I quite liked yours Jon and Douglas Alderson's or David (Pearls not a Singer) as a reminder to check your sites (the website button isn't really descriptive enough for this).
If there is a flood of people who share the dislike, I'm sure it can be looked at though.

Ooh, so I have managed to change the website button so it now shows the web address rather than just 'Website', so that people can see what the site is before clicking.
Thoughts, any better?
I can try looking into making a second button for your other site if that would be helpful Jon?

wow - well I think that looks fabulous and super efficient.. so potentially that would service photo archives and the specialist sites or registers? If another website option is possible to programme, that gives everyone future flexibility - why not try? At least it can cull a few unnecessary lines.

In reply to post number 10 I agree using the black Reply button only is a good idea.
It would be less confusing if the post being replied to was referenced by it’s number rather than being re quoted in the reply. If the previous post was then needed to be checked it would be easy to look back for the relevant post number.

OK, semi productive...
Reply button on posts now acts as per the 'New Reply' button does, so no longer quotes previous posts, as suggested by Rekkers and Roger. I didn't get rid of the button altogether in case people hadn't noticed the black 'New Reply' button and rely on the other being where they remember. Hope that makes sense.

As for adding a second website button, much research and messing with templates shows that it is not possible (natively). You can get the extra button, but everyone gets it regardless of how many website boxes they may have filled in, which obviously looks a bit daft.
It 'may' be possible by adding a 'Plugin', but that involves more access than I have, so I will see what management thinks.

Jon, Finally managed to sort something out for a second website, and have set yours up. Any good? 
Unfortunately it can only be added or edited by admin, as it needs code adding to the address to work.
To change it, or anyone else who would like a second website spot, then just PM me, and I can sort it for you.

Timothy, one side effect of your change is you can do several posts in succession and it joins the two together. If you look in the 'Slippery Ann Update' thread you'll see what I mean. My first post about the calipers was a new posting in the thread. The second, done just afterwards was a reply to Fatboytweed's post about metalworking. I wanted to reply with it quoted but used the new button.

Even though they were done as two posts it added my second (the reply to Fatboytweed) to the bottom of the first.

I'd try to reproduce it but don't want to mess up any other threads. It may just have been due to user error!

Hello Simon, the post combining, separated by a line, has always been there for two posts from the same user (not admin for some reason) in quick succession (can't recall the exact time), but I get the idea about the quotes would have specified who you were replying to in each case. Couple of easy options...
Simplest or perhaps neatest option would be starting by addressing the user you're aiming the reply at 
Eg

"Mark, When I first started working on my 3D printed Enigma machine I didn't have any blueprints to work from ....

Fatboytweed, This guys DVD is very good. No fancy tools required. ...."

Or if you want to replicate the original system all you need to do is click 'Quote' next to the reply button (the plus will change to a minus, and clicking again cancels it), then hit 'Reply', or 'New reply' and presto you have their post back in your reply. You can also do it with the quick reply box, but it will ask at the bottom of the box to make sure you want to add it/them. 
Two things to be aware of though. 
The quote button can be used to quote multiple posts, so clicking quote on another post doesn't get rid of the other. This can be used to reply to multiple posts in one go, but can get tricky making sure all of the replies and quotes stay where they should.
The quote button can also to transfer a quote to a different thread. If you select 'quote' on a post in one thread, do not to reply, then go to reply to another thread it will show the following line at the bottom of the typing pane. (same as you see on the quick reply box)
"You have selected one post outside of this thread. Quote this post too, deselect this post"
Giving you the option to add the quote if you intended to use it, or get rid of it if you forgot it was selected in the first place.

Hope some of that makes sense, I think I made it sound more complex than it is.
Don't worry about making a mess either, everything can be edited afterwards if you're not happy with the result.

I think the forum always did this 'adding two posts'  in my experience.
