I use Doug Taylor in Weston Super Mare - I live in Glasgow and post stuff to them. Very old family firm.

Can recommend Castle Chrome in Dudley. They did both my windscreen frame and radiator shell for the saloon - although they were both in nickel. Cost about £400 a few years back.

I can thoroughly recommend Russell Jones at Silvabronz (Beckworth Services) in Alton, Hampshire (http://www.beckworth.net/). Did a super job on my Pearl windscreen surround plus a lot of small parts.

Good morning. There are three issues with chroming - quality, cost and time. Chroming forms a large part of my interest in making and restoring headlamps and the cost varies wildly - I have just been in conversation with someone who has paid in excess of £1000 to have a box rad surround chrome plated and someone else whose Brough Superior rad surround was at the platers for 13 years!
I use a commercial platers who are not restoration specialists hence anything I take has to be perfect and they do not undertake any work for anyone unknown to them.

If you are having headlamps re-plated it is essential that the steel bases are removed as polishing is difficult and the chemicals used in the plating process are trapped between the shell and base causing rapid deterioration of the steel.

If anyone is in the market for an excellent re-plated box rad surround I have one available for only £395! Photos available at the end of the month.

Yes please Stuart - the one on my RP is cracked and needs plating.
