What have you done today with your Austin Seven
I thought you guys Gaffa-taped pasties around the tyres?

I use baguettes these days.

Pasties are probably firmer than haggis...

I was thinking more of the heat they produced - would be good at melting that white stuff...

Great idea! They even make special ones just for Nippies.

Kept warm today by moving the engine build into the sitting room
and it’s coal fire! Neil appreciated the comfortable working conditions!

Are you still married? If I did that I would be either dead or divorced.

Nick's picture above shows both styles. I imagine all on one plate is easier to keep flat. Or at least to make it so after fabricating it. But then cut each of the 3 sets of exhaust pipes might have more flex allowing them to bolt up hard to the block?

In my case we kept. the entire base plate for the exhaust and fitted the inlet  on top of that which indeed needed cutting up a 'second' gasket  Hope this pic is sufficient (before fitting with gaskets but you'll get the gist methinks)

My wife wouldn't bother about an engine. rebuild in the. living room as long as parts are  more or less cleaned; in fact she'd probably lend me a hand if and when asked for...

I bought a very rough Morris 8 Tourer the day
before we got married, so Ann did get some advance warning
of what she was getting into!
This M8 became Concours and beat an 8 litre open Bentley
