All Alloy Cup progress
Hope for the best, plan for the worst. I will virtually guarantee that if you park your car at a show and turn your back on it someone will either try and nick your radiator cap or stand on the running boards to see if they will take their weight.

This morning managed to install the sidelight wiring looms
And clipped them to the wing supports. Each side has a Lucas 6 way wiring junction box
On the inside of the flitch plates which connects these sub looms to the main wiring, laid along the top of the flitch plates . The Lucas boxes also provide wiring to the headlamps.

Also made a steel cross brace along the back of the radiator,
that both headlamps are screwed into.

The new old stock CAV headlamps have minimal adjustment on the mounting
stalks so I will have to make pairs of wedges to align the headlamps
in a forward direction.

Hoping to finish the bonnet clips this week, then the radiator shell
can go to the platers . Must get back on to
final engine assembly, head etc and clutch build.

Still can’t complain about progress in January ,
roll on February which should see the start of final assembly
starting at the back and working forward.

Spent this afternoon dismantling and cleaning an
SU OM 1” Carburetter. Also ordered up an overhaul kit
And couple of needles, MA and M7 from Burlen.
Anyone else using this carb with similar or other needles?
I’m using a Ruby manifold, slipper pistons, but standard
Camshaft and valves with 1 1/8” steel crank.

Looking around for a neat glass bowl filter.

The Burlen refurb kits whilst not cheap are very comprehensive and good quality. I've just recently overhauled the H1 I have on the RP.

you should have got one needle choice with the kit? Many seem to have found an AN works. That's the only one I've bought for my overhaul!

AN would be my starting point for this set up as well.

Hi Ruairidh

AN was my 3rd choice but Read an article somewhere about OM
Carbs and those two needles seem to be worth trying. If not I’ll try an AN.

Ps I’m using a HC Ricardo alloy head, hoping I might
Get to 55mph!

I found a Colortune kit very useful for sorting it all out Bill, worthwhile investment.

Hi Ruairidh

Thanks for the reminder, I’ve got two Colortunes
Which I bought when tuning my TR3A’s HS6 twin carbs.
Just discovered my throttle linkage must
Be 1925 as it has a BLIC magneto control lever
Which I don’t need. Free to anyone who needs this unusual lever.

This car building is turning into a full time job!

Neil came over today to help me work on the clutch
and fitting the cylinder head.

Too cold for the garage so moved the engine into
Sitting room with the coal fire!! As SWMBO was
at her art class conveniently, though she did return early ..

The pegs in the clutch pin assemblies were a
very tight fit in the levers and one lever needed the attention of the
Dremel Xmas present.

Clutch setting height in Woodrow for the 3 speed crash box
is quoted as 1 1/4”. But even with new pegs and levers we
Measured ours at .85”

Neil suggested using a 4mm roll pin , under the levers
(I had some stainless 4mm. rod
To make steering control linkages)

This brings up the distance from the clutch plate to the
Lever to 1 1/4” near enough,
With the flat lower edge of the lever, horizontal with
the outer surface of the cover plate.

Am I good to go with this arrangement?

The head gasket took 10 mins to go on at 18ft lb torque.
Waiting on a few bits to come and then hope to install
The column and sort out the throttle  and carb linkages.

The rad shell and bonnet can come off now which will make first engine
Installation straightforward. Hoping to take the rad shell to the platers
Next week.

Neil is a better engineer than me, otherwise things would not go
so smoothly. His engine build is ahead on points so hope to hear his start up soon!!
