Another scam today.
A pre-recorded message supposedly from my internet provider (no company name given) telling me that my broadband was going to be disconnected within the hour because of problems with my IP address. All I had to do was press "1" to speak to an engineer. At this point, I point I put the phone down and rang my internet provider. Guess what, no problem with my IP address. Even the person that I spoke to had had one of these calls, where the scammer is just phishing for useful information.

He is now back with a special, same story, in Ireland and selling on behalf of a friend and to email him direct

I had a scamming email that previewed with "Hi my victim, I caught you pleasuring yourself using malware loaded onto the porn site you visited..."
Needless to say I didn't open the email. That sort of carry on has never appealed to me.
Now had they tried to extort money from me on the basis of telling my wife about the hours spent sourcing parts for the Speedex, I might have been a bit more concerned!

Drifting off A7s, but still on scams, we've been getting a lot of recorded "Official notices from HMRC" informing anyone that picks up the phone that they are "Filing a lawsuit" against us and instructing us to "Press 1".
"Filing a Lawsuit"? Someone's been watching too many US courtroom dramas!

I'm the same, Reckers - I never pick up the phone unless its a known, named caller - or an unknown one who starts to leave a message on the machine that I want to respond to. Who needs mates, anyway?

Here in states it is somewhat the same..."I am Obogo Ujibay, the son of the former Minister of Finance (Corruption) in XXXX. My father left $1 billion to me and I need a bank account to recover these(this)money."
