hello people
Still thrashing about with my Dynamo.
Turns out the armature has some faulty coils.
Any one recommend a rewind service.

That's an old price; their web site is rather out of date. However, they did one for me in April. Excellent job and good turn round time. Importantly, they don't farm the winding out as some do. Phone for an up to date price.

I send my dynamos to Vince Leek for rebuild, his work is excellent with a quick turnaround.

Vince helped me out some years ago - Still pushing out 10 amps at 6volts.

The life of many dynamos seems determined by the commutator becoming too thin. Do the renovators renew these? or are all such a write off?

I had one overhauled by Classic & Vintage Dynamos in Shirebrook, Notts.
Very happy with the results. However, It was four years ago, so they may no longer be in business.
