SMOKERS' HATCHES
#1
[quote pid='20161' dateline='1543911561']
Going a bit off subject, but re the smoker's hatch - mine is gone also.  I keep looking at the framing where it should be and have muttered about trying to make one.  All listeners to that have looked at me sideways and tapped the side of their head knowingly.  Am I mad to try?  I've only seen a few photos of them and they do seem to be a bid fiddly to make.  Maybe I should start a new discussion on this..

Discussion now starting!

What info do you have on smokers' hatches, Graham?  We've have two or three enquiries about them in the last couple of years, so it would be nice to be able to offer a passable solution.  Do you (or anyone else) know whether the smokers' hatches fitted to other "standard" saloon models were identical units?

That's very useful.

I assume that at 10 1/4" by 8 1/2" overall, it's rather bigger that an A7 unit (?).

I think the 'window' size of 6.5 x 4.25" sounds about right for a Seven.

You can always do what my mate did, his standard RP lacked the smoker's hatch, so he bought one for a bigger Austin and cut it down to fit his Seven.

Would it be possible to have higher definition copies of your sketches please.  I'm encouraged to make one now.
Thanks

Unfortunately Sandy now only seems to post occasionally in Austin Seven on Facebook-
