All Alloy Cup progress

Made a little progress with fitting the 4x wings thus afternoon.

It’s beginning to look more of a motor car!

Still to fit some of the piping and step mats.

Although it’s all Alloy I’m pleased that it still looks like a Cup.

NB The Pano feature on my camera phone has distorted the wing line
and a few other details.

For a satin finish aluminium body I have found that using light great Scotchbrite gives a good finish which I then spray with SAS maintenance fluid. After 10 or 15 minutes I wipe the excess off with a paper towel and allow to dry. This seems to give a reasonable finish which does not leave grey on your fingers. Repeat at 4 month intervals or as often as you wash the car.
I have friends who polish their ali cars and then treat them with AP50, a specialist aircraft product which is designed to keep the polished finish to improve aerodynamic and prevent corrosion.

Of course this car’s wings owe you a big thank you
For the excellent advice and use of your workshop’s
Magnetic folder which formed the wing profiles.

It was a great metal working course and gave me the confidence
To finish off the panelwork

Hope your own projects are going well.
Is the “Dixi Roadster “ on the road yet?

The Stadium was the successor to the Cup
Model and was available as either panelled in Fabric or Aluminium.
I have an original advert which says
“As light as a Fabric”

I may run the car for a year or two in
Aluminium and then decide.

I could paint it “Aluminium”!!

Hi Bill,
One product that you will find worth a look at is NYLIC,
This is an American Brand and is availably in the UK.
Have used on alloy boats very easy to apply,
In NZ it is used on trucks as a finish over raw alloy or paint and just needs washing with soapy water no chemicals
also no need to apply wax or any other product
one other bonus in your case can be applied on the inside as well over any clean base material including wood
not vinyl or glass
The Cup is looking Great
